What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic injection is derived from a neurotoxin called onobotulinumtoxinA. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the first, and only treatment FDA approved. It helps reverse common signs of aging by reducing wrinkles around the eyes, eyebrows, forehead, and neck.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable neuromodulator used to relax imbalanced nerves and muscles. It temporarily stops the underlying muscles from moving wherever it’s injected. When your muscles stop moving, wrinkles stop forming. You will still look like you, only with less noticeable wrinkles. It’s a quick, virtually pain-free way to achieve a youthful, well-rested appearance.

How does it work?
There is a muscle nerve beneath every wrinkle, and our procedure involves injecting microdoses of BOTOX® Cosmetic into the end of that nerve. After the injection moves from the dermis and into the desired muscle, BOTOX® Cosmetic will block the nerves there—this is done by shutting off their synapses. Despite your brain firing a signal for your muscles to move, BOTOX® Cosmetic effectively blocks that signal and prevents the muscle from moving. Injected muscles lose their ability to contract, which relaxes wrinkles and softens them while preventing new ones from forming. The result? Smoother, softer, younger-looking skin.
BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes frown lines and lifts the corners of the mouth, smoothes out “pincushion” chins, and softens the smoker’s lines. You can resume your normal daily activities right after the procedure. Occasionally, when BOTOX® Cosmetic is diluted with saline, it may result in a swelling side effect. This type of bump should go down within an hour or two. A good result will leave you looking fresher, more cheerful, and younger.
